On Wednesday, Miss Van Anh, who teaches us Reading, started the lesson with the small game called "Vocab. Quiz". Two students solved one quiz together. I did it with my 1st Hơ (Honey) ^ ^. The rule of this quiz was that you found the missing words through the cues given; then you combined the first letters of those words to have the group word. For instance:
a/ Language and music are the two things that make humans different from animals.
b/ "Big Yellow Taxi" is a song originally written and performed by Joni Mitchell but covered by many other artists.
c/ Elvis Presley was the first real rock 'n' roll star.
d/ Music is an integral part of our life.
e/ Music is a powerful means of communication.
f/ Almost all of us like classical music.
g/ Every night, the mother sings a lullaby to lull her child to sleep.
The group word: lyrical (romantic)
I was very interested when solving this quiz because it was not only quite new to me, but it also made my brain work. In addition, we could enrich our vocabulary and practice team work skills.
I am a tutor. I'm teaching English for a boy who is at grade 5. I usually test his old lessons by giving him the words in Vietnamese and asking him to write down the equivalent English ones. Today, I wanted to do something different. I made another "Vocab. Quiz" based on that of Miss Van Anh:
1. Hens lay eggs.
2. Spring, summer, autumn, winter.
3. After rain, we can sometimes see rainbow, which has 7 colors.
The group word: ear (a part of body, used to hear)
We solved the quiz together and had a lot of fun. He seemed very eager. This made the study time active and relaxing. I think it's time I changed my teaching method.

LOVE AND TIME

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink., so all constructed boats and left. except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment. When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by love in a grand boat. Love said: "Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't. there is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel." Vanity, please help me!"
" I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you"." Oh...Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!" Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder.
So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were goin. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went his own way. Realising how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knoledge, another elder, " who helped me?" "It was Time," Knowledge answered
" Time?' asked Love. " but why did Time help me?". Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, " Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is".
